5 Records is an independent music label and the creative home of BBS5 Music, founded in 2017 by musician, composer and producer Florian Schmid in Tübingen, Germany.
We create atmospheric soundscapes, cinematic compositions and musical journeys inspired by film, memory, nature and imagination.
From cinematic ambient and electronic music to dream pop, orchestral arrangements, expressive piano and experimental sound design, every composition tells its own story.
All music is composed, performed, and produced by BBS5 Music. AI may be used for visual artwork.

The Artist Behind the Sound
Behind BBS5 Music and 5 Records is Florian Schmid, an independent musician, composer and music producer based in Tübingen, Germany.
His musical journey began with the accordion at the age of nine, followed by guitar, piano and an ongoing fascination with musical improvisation, composition and sound.
Over the years, his creative approach has evolved through a combination of instrumental performance, music theory, audio engineering and independent experimentation.
In 2018, he completed the HOFA Audio Engineering Diploma, further developing his knowledge of recording, mixing and music production.
Today, BBS5 Music brings these influences together in a constantly evolving musical world.

Über mich – Florian Schmid
Meine musikalische Reise begann im Alter von neun Jahren mit dem Akkordeon. Später entdeckte ich die Gitarre für mich, schließlich kam das Klavier hinzu. Neben Instrumentalunterricht und Musiktheorie habe ich mir einen Großteil meiner musikalischen Fähigkeiten autodidaktisch erarbeitet – angetrieben von Neugier, Experimentierfreude und unzähligen Stunden am Instrument.
Im Erwachsenenalter vertiefte ich meine Kenntnisse im Bereich Recording, Audiotechnik und digitaler Musikproduktion und absolvierte erfolgreich ein Diplom in Audio Engineering.
Heute verbinde ich akustische Instrumente mit analogen und digitalen Synthesizern, elektronischen Klangwelten und orchestralen Elementen. Meine Musik bewegt sich zwischen Ambient, Cinematic, Electronic, Dream Pop und experimentellen Kompositionen – ohne sich bewusst auf ein bestimmtes Genre festzulegen.
Im Mittelpunkt meiner musikalischen Arbeit steht die Improvisation. Oft entstehen Kompositionen aus spontanen Ideen, einzelnen Melodien oder ungewöhnlichen Klängen, die sich nach und nach zu eigenständigen musikalischen Geschichten entwickeln.
Unabhängig von der ersten Idee bis zur Veröffentlichung
Mit BBS5 Music / 5 Records, meinem 2017 gegründeten unabhängigen Musikprojekt und Label, verfolge ich einen ganzheitlichen kreativen Ansatz.
Sämtliche Musik wird von mir selbst komponiert, eingespielt, arrangiert und produziert. Auch Recording, Mixing und Mastering übernehme ich eigenständig.
Darüber hinaus gestalte und betreue ich meine Website sowie die grafischen Designs, Cover-Artworks und visuellen Konzepte meiner Veröffentlichungen. Bei der Erstellung visueller Inhalte können auch KI-gestützte Werkzeuge zum Einsatz kommen. Die Musik selbst entsteht durch meine eigene musikalische Arbeit.
Diese kreative Unabhängigkeit ermöglicht es mir, meine Ideen ohne feste Vorgaben umzusetzen, mit neuen Klängen zu experimentieren und jedem Stück seine eigene Atmosphäre zu geben.
Musik ist für mich mehr als eine Abfolge von Tönen. Sie ist eine Möglichkeit, Gedanken, Erinnerungen und Emotionen auszudrücken – manchmal melancholisch, manchmal hoffnungsvoll, manchmal geheimnisvoll.
Ich freue mich, meine Musik mit anderen Menschen teilen zu können. Wenn sie euch begleitet, berührt oder einfach einen Moment eures Tages heller macht, ist das für mich die schönste Belohnung.

My musical journey began at the age of nine with the accordion. Later, I discovered the guitar, followed by the piano. Alongside instrumental lessons and music theory, I developed much of my musical knowledge through self-study, driven by curiosity, experimentation and countless hours spent exploring music.
As an adult, I expanded my knowledge of recording, audio technology and digital music production, successfully earning a diploma in Audio Engineering.
Today, I combine acoustic instruments with analog and digital synthesizers, electronic soundscapes and orchestral elements. My music moves between ambient, cinematic, electronic, dream pop and experimental compositions, without being confined to any particular genre.
Improvisation lies at the heart of my creative process. Many compositions begin with spontaneous ideas, simple melodies or unusual sounds that gradually evolve into their own musical stories.
Independent Creativity – From the First Idea to the Final Release
Through BBS5 Music / 5 Records, my independent music project and label founded in 2017, I pursue a fully independent and personal approach to music and creativity.
All music is composed, performed, arranged and produced by me. I also handle the entire recording, mixing and mastering process independently.
Beyond music production, I design and maintain my website and create the graphic designs, cover artwork and visual concepts for my releases. AI-assisted tools may occasionally be used in the creation of visual artwork, while the music itself is the result of my own musical work.
This creative independence allows me to follow my ideas freely, experiment with different sounds and give every composition its own unique atmosphere.
For me, music is more than a collection of notes. It is a way of expressing thoughts, memories and emotions – sometimes melancholic, sometimes hopeful, sometimes mysterious.
